The venue for the February Meet was the Gloucester Mountaineering Hut – “Cefn Goch”. It is situated on the outskirts of Deiniolen village below the north west slope of Elidir Fach, approximately 3 miles from Llanberis.

Friday

The first members arrived at Cefn Goch just before 11:00 am. Once installed Alan, Andy, James and Dan set off and did a reci around Deiniolen. Having refueled on bacon sandwiches & drinks they walked through the constant rain into Llanberis through Padarn Country Park. While Alex and Bob walked through the slate mines up to Elidir Fach and then up to Elidir Fawr before getting lost in the fog, but finally managing to safely return to the hut.
Alkesh, Glen & Kent went up Tryfan on route to the hut and the other club members turn up at various times during the evening.

Saturday

In the morning the weather looked awful so Alan, Alex, Bob, Wayne & Erika went to the Beacon Climbing Centre near Llanberis for the day while Andy, Jay, Mark, Glen, Kent, Tom, Alkesh & Dan set off towards Marchlyn Mawr Reservoir in hope that the rain would stop as predicted by the Met Office. Luckily they got it right for once and with clearly skies they summited Carnedd y Filiast and then headed south to Mynydd Perfedd. They then followed the ridge across towards Elidir Fawr and scrambled up to the summit. From here the group returned to the reservoir via Elidir Fach and then back to Deiniolen and the hut.
Karen, Nick, Pete, Graham & Jo also headed out and ventured over to the north of the Carneddeau and walked up into the hills beyond the Aber Falls.
In the evening it was a bit like a social night in the Galleon but with added extras of Bob music, card playing and the club activity of table traversing.

Sunday

The next day Wayne, Erika, Alex and Bob parked at Pen Y Pass, went up and over Crib Goch then on to Crib Y Ddysgl before heading down the Pyg Track. Wayne and Erika went back to Pen Y Pass whilst Alex and Bob went up Y Gribin then up and over Y Lliwedd before heading back to Pen Y Pass.
Alan set off on his own up the track behind the hut that leads to Marchlyn Mawr Reservoir. From here he summited Carnedd y Filiast and then headed South to Mynydd Perfedd. He then descended along Cwm Dudodyn to Nant Peris. From here he took the path through the slate quarries back to Dinorwig and on to Deiniolen.
Other members set off in search of other adventures on the way home including walking around Aber Falls, scrambling up the North Ridge of Tryfan and looking for excitement at Tremadoc.
