23-28 August 2024
Lee and Nick headed down on Friday. Lee stopped at Chudleigh and did some top rope solo in the afternoon. Nick was planning to climb there too but the dreaded Bank Holiday traffic held him up. Neal set out Friday night to arrive early Saturday. Naomi and Tom left early Saturday to get down for lunch and some climbing at Roche Rocks Saturday afternoon.
Neal, Tom, Lee and Naomi all stayed at Trevassa Farm while Nick was at Trefewha.
Saturday morning as soon as the tide allowed Lee and Neal went to Chairladder abseiled in and climbed Terriers Tooth a lovely Classic Rock route. Nick then joined them and all three did Pendulum Chimney.
We all met up at the campsite Saturday evening and decided to cook our own food as all were worn out after a busy day.
Sunday we all headed to Sennen and abseiled in to climb a number of routes. Tom,Lee and Neal all led with Nick and Naomi doing the hard part extracting the gear. Civvy Climb was one of the highlights.
Monday we chose Bosigran and the highlight was all five of us doing Door Post as one team. Neal led the first pitch and set up a belay on the ledge and was followed by Lee who then led the next two pitches running them together to save time. Two sets of twin ropes with three seconds made radios invaluable. Neal stayed on the belay ledge as the others in the group passed through. Luckily it was sunny with a nice view as it obviously took a while. Tom was puked on by a seagull to add to the fun. We had a very tasty fish supper out.
Tuesday we went back to Bosigran despite the chance of rain. Lee and Naomi did a few routes on the main cliff before the rain arrived. They then went for cream teas to make up for getting wet.
Neal, Tom and Nick did Commando\Bosigran Ridge. We got about half way before the rain came in which made the last three pitches more work than in the dry. We skipped the last pitch and abseiled off by the memorial plaque as the conditions were bad by then. Bosigran lichen turned our hands and gear orange! Neal and Nick had to head home Tuesday after climbing.
On Wednesday the rest of the group did some sightseeing (as it was raining) before heading home.
Great trip and some quality climbs. And some extensive abseil practise!
